The Food Scrap Drop-Off Composting Program - During January 2024, the City of Cleveland received more than $340,000 from USDA to launch a residential composting program. The program is establishing drop-off locations for residential compost across the City and subsidizing monthly composting subscriptions for 250 low-income households. This program will also fund neighborhood-level community Compost Ambassadors to support education around composting services and Compost Trainees in a composting workforce development program. Limited free finished compost will be available to urban growers in Cleveland.
