In November 2020, the City, along with the New Orleans Business Alliance, a local economic and workforce development organization, and YouthForce NOLA, a local non-profit focused on career pathways for high school students, was selected to participate in JP Morgan Chase’s AdvancingCities Challenge. AdvancingCities is a 3-year, $5M grant that the City is using to develop a robust blue/green infrastructure workforce training pipeline that prepares high school youth, opportunity youth, people of color, and low-income residents for high-wage jobs in the City’s growing water management sector, AdvancingCities also provides small business support and policy and systems change.
