The 2023 Green Jobs Strategy established a green skills development fund to support employee certifications in energy conservation and sustainability. In 2025, King County will offer Envision Sustainability Professional and LEED Accredited Professional certifications to employees in Metro, Department of Natural Resources and Parks, Department of Local Services, and Department of Executive Services. King County will explore these certification offerings along with expanding LEED Green Janitor certification opportunities to expand capacity and skills for frontline janitorial staff. Other certifications to be considered include: Building Operator Certification, Living Future Accreditation, Sustainability Facility Professional, and BCxA Commissioning Provider Certificate Program. Each of these certifications are transferable accreditations that stay with the employee.
