As part of a oil-spill response exercise in the Beaufort Sea during Arctic Shield 2013, participants used a small unmanned aircraft system (SUAS) to identify the extent of simulated spilled oil. Here, crewmembers from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy retrieve the SUAS after it landed in icy water.
