The rising costs and dangers associated with coastal flooding are motivating communities to assess the people, places, and resources at risk. The Southeast & Caribbean Climate Community of Practice will present a one-hour webinar on using flood exposure maps on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 1:00 PM EDT.

During this webinar, Liz Lasicki (NOAA's Office for Coastal Management) will interview Jason Evans (Stetson University) to hear first-hand experiences about how Jason has used maps to engage stakeholders in discussions about local hazards and risk. Participants will learn how to best use local flood exposure maps when working with citizens and local officials.

This live webinar supports the work of community land use, hazards, and resilience planners. It replaces the Roadmap for Adapting to Coastal Risk webinar. During the webinar, you will learn how to:

  • Recognize challenges and techniques for using these maps to facilitate productive conversations about improving community resilience to coastal hazards
  • Prepare for productive conversations about community resilience

One-hour certification maintenance credit through the American Institute for Certified Planners is available.
