CNAP - a NOAA CAP/RISA team - is a climate research program led by scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego and Desert Research Institute in Reno, Nevada. The group has spent more than 15 years understanding climate risks in order to improve the ability of decisionmakers in California and Nevada to prepare and plan for hazards and extreme events.
CNAP core priority areas are water resources, natural resources, and coastal resources. The group's outcomes include scientific journal articles, reports, stakeholder workshops, and mentoring of early career scientists. CNAP staff also work closely with the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) to coordinate communication and to research topics surrounding drought and water resources.
