Technical Mitigation Options in Croplands and Animal Agriculture copy

Crop and animal agricultural systems in the US are currently a net source (emitter) of greenhouse gases. However, there are a range of opportunities for reducing or mitigating greenhouse gas emissions through management. The options differ across systems and geography, as well as level of impact and current ease of use. Science is continuously advancing knowledge and technology for mitigation and increased investment is accelerating opportunities. Dr. Dominic Woolf (Cornell University) and Dr. Sara Place (Elanco) draw from their expertise in crop and animal agriculture to outline mitigation options and key biophysical and socioeconomic considerations. This information will help USDA employees understand the range of mitigation options available and their potential utility and applicability. This seminar will be followed in September by a discussion of technical mitigation options in forestry.
