Building America Solution Center - Disaster Resistance Tool
The Building America Solution Center, developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, provides construction guidance for energy efficient and disaster resistant residential buildings.
The Disaster Resistance tool provides best practices for construction and renovating homes to be resilient and energy efficient. The tool provides builders, remodelers, restoration contractors, and home occupants with guidance on building, renovating, and restoring homes to be more resistant to natural disasters including hurricanes, high winds, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, wildfires, and severe winter weather, and pests. Guidance is also provided for making homes more hospitable for an individual or for the entire family to shelter in place.
This tool currently provides guidance for building resistance to Hurricane/High Winds/Tornados, Flooding/Coastal Flooding, Earthquakes, Wildfire, Pests and Winter Weather.
