Climate Smart Farming Tools

This suite of tools—which includes a growing degree day calculator, a water deficit calculator, a winter cover crop scheduler, a drought atlas, and grape/apple freeze risk tools—helps with decision making on irrigation, crop scheduling, and more.

To help producers and communities meet the challenges of extreme weather events, changing growing seasons, and variation in precipitation, the Cornell Climate Smart Farming program has developed a variety of free, on-line decision-making tools for farmers in the Northeastern United States. These tools combine local weather station, climate, and agricultural data to help farmers make informed management decisions in both the short- and long-term.

The Cornell Climate Smart Farming program brings together highly-trained extension specialists, world-class researchers, and local farmers to develop tools and resources for agricultural stakeholders throughout New York State and the entire Northeast.
