Ocean Acidification Curriculum Collection

Use this database to download free K–12 lesson plans and other educational materials relating to ocean acidification.

The Ocean Acidification Curriculum Collection is an online database containing free lesson plans and units on ocean acidification, as well as supplemental educational materials on ocean acidification and related topics. The collection is searchable by grade band, subject, type of activity, and length of activity. Users can use the "Find an Expert" tool to obtain more information in a specific curriculum area or to enhance monitoring or ocean acidification adaptation efforts.

Ocean Acidification is a relatively new field of research involving many disciplines, including chemistry, biology, physics, ecology, genetics, sociology, and more. It is an ideal topic to use as context and content for implementing Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the Common Core, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts. Because both the field and the NGSS are new, few materials on ocean acidification have been made specifically to address the NGSS. Those interested in developing materials on ocean acidification can use this site to identify gaps and create new materials that are aligned with the NGSS.
